Communication Assistant - University and Alumni Relations

14 hour per week casual position

The Communication assistant position is intended for a candidate with an interest in communication, public relations and media relations. This individual will assist in the office of University and Alumni Relations with the primary function of writing feature stories, news related stories, content for the web and social media. This position may also work on special projects, creating stories by researching, conducting interviews, and writing related stories and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position includes a variety of communications/marketing/graphic design related responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

  • Writing/Editing
    • Assist with writing and editing stories on current students, faculty and alumni for use in a variety of publications (print, email, web, etc.)
    • Proofread and editing communications materials
  • Other Duties
    • Small graphic design projects
    • Assist with communication and marketing projects
    • Assist in department events by creating related materials
    • Assisting in the rollover of our new UMN Crookston website.
    • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Applicants should possess skills in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and be highly organized. This position will require working on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Rate: $21.50 per hour
