Requisition ID req33625 Working Title Dept Administrator A2 Position Grade 13 Position Summary The School of Engineering is seeking a highly motivated self-starter for the lead administrator position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The ME Department is research active academic department of approximately 15 tenured/ tenure-track faculty, 2 lecturers, approximately 10 adjunct faculty per semester, 1 active research faculty, and 7 staff. With approximately 600 undergraduate and graduate students, $4.3M in research expenditures annually and collaborations with several UNM research centers, we are looking for a leader who can keep this fast-paced and active department running. You would serve as an advisor to the departmental chairperson under limited supervision, and manage all administrative functions of a research-active academic department. Previous experience at an academic institution is highly desirable. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential matters discretely. You would supervise staff and student employees; be responsible for the course schedule and catalog maintenance; oversee and/or take on fiscal and budgetary management responsibilities; conduct human resource administration to include the hiring of faculty, staff, and students; manage facilities and departmental resources; coordinate contract and grant efforts; develop and implement operational procedures; facilitate special projects; and oversee daily functioning of the department. Additionally, you would serve as an advisor to and liaison to other departments, agencies and customers internal and external to the University. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications
