Overview:
We are seeking a Leave Management Specialist to join our Human Resources team in our Minneapolis office. This highly experienced specialist will oversee all employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and supporting our firm's people-first philosophy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of leave laws such as FMLA, ADA, PFML, and MN PLL, paired with the ability to manage complex cases and collaborate across departments. This position reports to the Director of Compensation and Benefits.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Administer all types of leaves (FMLA, ADA, medical, parental, personal) from initiation to return-to-work, ensuring accurate documentation, pay coordination, and communication.
  • Lead internal preparation for the upcoming implementation of Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave (MN PFML), including vendor evaluation, policy review, and firm-wide rollout planning.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave regulations and maintain complete and accurate leave records
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees navigating the leave process, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
  • Act as the liaison with external leave vendors to ensure accurate processing and policy adherence.
  • Coordinate with HR, management, and other departments to manage leave schedules and maintain operational coverage.
  • Support and guide complex leave and accommodation cases, ensuring sensitivity, discretion, and policy compliance.
  • Recommend updates to firm leave policies to reflect evolving legal requirements and best practices.
  • Provide education and training to managers and staff on leave policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and report on employee leave data to support trends analysis, compliance, and planning.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and employee experience of leave administration.
  • Support the hybrid nature of the role by being present in-office (Downtown Minneapolis) generally two days per week, with three remote workday

Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • 5+ years of experience managing employee leaves and accommodations in a professional environment.
  • Certification in Leave Management or Human Resources (e.g., CLMS, PHR) strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws including FMLA, ADA, PFML, and MN PLL.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information and sensitive employee situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to navigate complex cases and provide thoughtful, compliant solutions.

Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as Workday, UKG, ADP, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with vendor management in the context of employee benefits or leave administration.

Compensation

This is a part-time, exempt position anticipated at 20-25 hours per week. The estimated annual salary range, based on a 20-hour workweek, is $37,500-$42,500, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation may vary by geographic location and will be based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education, skillset, and overall alignment with the role.
