We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Transportation Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region located in El Paso, TX.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a licensed Texas P.E. and 15+ years of progressive transportation/roadway experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to help continue to expand our services across the Texas Region and manage the operations of the Texas Engineering staff and win/manage projects. This position is responsible for complex engineering design tasks as well as marketing, business development, and client contact. Additional activities include managing the design and delivery of projects profitably while being actively involved in design issues and troubleshooting.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements
  • Recruit, develop and retain El Paso staff
  • Performing contract negotiations
  • Project work planning
  • Supervising the execution of work
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations
  • Technical oversight and development of roadway design projects
  • Assist with statewide design delivery

What you need to have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil engineering from ABET accredited engineering program
  • Licensed Texas P.E.
  • 15+ years of progressive transportation/roadway experience
  • 5+ years of experience in management of engineering and support staff
  • Must be proficient with OpenRoads Designer
  • Possess a strong understanding of project management
  • The ability to manage AND assist in the production of design deliverables
  • Experience working with TxDOT and the El Paso area
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
