Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Manager - Assessment & Referral. Located in Norfolk Virginia, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner providing acute, residential, and Partial Hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns. The hospital is dedicated to providing high quality care to children, adolescents and their families. We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need, using quality, evidence based practice treatments. Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is an 82-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Position Scope:

Provides verbal and/or written information regarding the various facilities, programs, locations, admission criteria and application requirements. Verifies all components of the application processes, pre-admission interviews, financial contractual arrangements and administrative processess, completing in accordance with licensure, reulatory and contractual requirements.

Essential Functions:

Must possess knowledge of specialty psychiatric care including residential treatment as well as various types of state agency and other funding available; statistics; excellent presentation and written communication skills; familiarity with referral community. Must possess knowledge of and ability to operate personal computer, intermediate Microsoft Office skills, specifically Word and Excel proficiency, ability to use telephone, copier and fax machine. Must possess ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  1. Provides department leadership in collaboration with of the Director of Clinical Services and contributes to clinical leadership of the facility.
  2. Referral and disposition responsibilities.
  3. Tracking of the referrals and completion of admission paperwork.
  4. Communication within the facility and the treatment team regarding the admission.
  5. Provide customer service at admission and ensure the signing of admission paperwork.
  6. Development of relationships with referral sources.
  7. Ensure Service Excellence delivery.

Qualifications

Education

Registered Nurse or Masters prepared in Social Work or Psychology; Licensed preferred. Letter from the Virginia Board of Health Professionals to documents Approval for Supervision required.

Experience:

Minimum of three plus years in psychiatric health care, supervisory experience required. Oversight of Admissions Department preferred. Demonstrated communication skills with external agencies and client perspectives.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to successfully perform CPR and the facility approved crisis interventions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
