Job Title: Business Analyst / Data
Clearance Required: Public Trust - Federal Client requires US Citizenship Work Location: Remote, Arlington, VA

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Business Analyst with Data experience for a remote position on a Federal program in Alexandria, Virginia.

The candidate will be a highly skilled and technically-oriented Business Analyst. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders and technical teams to gather requirements and ensure successful implementation using Azure services, flat file data handling through Databricks, reporting with Power BI, and a UI with Power Apps. This role demands a deep technical understanding of data pipelines, reporting, and user interfaces-and the ability to translate business requirements into actionable and testable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Requirements Gathering:


    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document business requirements.
    • Conduct workshops and interviews to gather insights and expectations for data projects.
    • Create detailed, technically precise user stories and acceptance criteria for features involving flat file creation, data ingestion, data reconciliation, reporting, and UI components.


  • Data Analysis:


    • Analyze complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
    • Utilize Azure, Databricks, and Data Lake technologies to manipulate and explore data.


  • Testing and Validation:


    • Develop test plans and cases to ensure data solutions meet business requirements.
    • Perform thorough testing of data processes and reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.


  • Reporting and Visualization:


    • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
    • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.


  • Collaboration and Communication:


    • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams to implement solutions.
    • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


  • Continuous Improvement:


    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization of data workflows.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analytics and business analysis.



Required Qualifications:

Education:



  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, or similar.


Experience/Skills:



  • Federal agency requires US Citizenship.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, working in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data-centric projects.
  • Understanding of Azure, Databricks, Data Lake, Power BI, and MPP environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and database design concepts.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with SQL and data querying languages.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
  • Certification in business analysis or data analytics (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA).


Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $81,692- $140,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
