Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a School Nurse (Per Diem) for the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (
GSAPP).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides general nursing services, including triage of patients, and treatment of minor injuries at the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center.
- Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of general medical procedures and appropriately implements procedures to assess and address both routine health concerns and those involving medical crisis.
- Maintains and distributes medication to students and clients.
- Maintains necessary documentation of all health records for students, clients, and staff; and medication logs documenting distribution of prescription and/or doctor prescribed OTC medication. Compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Provides staff training regarding safety and hazardous material and provides training specific to individuals with specialized needs (e.g., severe allergies, seizure disorder).
- Collaborates with professionals and families on medical issues related to students with autism spectrum disorder (e.g., teachers, physicians).
- Maintains a professional manner that enhances the Center's efforts to provide appropriate health care to students/clients and staff.
- Attends and participates in staff development programs on related topics.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey. (Active and in Good Standing)

- School Nurse Certification or NJ Substitute School Nurse eligible.
- Valid RN License required.
