Department:ICE \| PeriopSvc Admin ET Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:"This position will work Sun night -Thursday night." The Perioperative Care Service - Main Operating Room Equipment Technician (ET) works collaboratively with the staff in the operating room to assist in the safe and timely flow of patients through the operating rooms. The ET moves beds and equipment into and out of the operating rooms as needed and may on occasion be asked to assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating table. The ET must possess knowledge of specialized equipment used in the operating room in order to set up, trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance. The ET works closely with Clinical Engineering technicians to support preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment. The ET reports to the Director of Facilities and Operations for Perioperative Care Services. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED PLUS two (2) years of experience Additional Information: Responsibilities: Conducts routine checks and calibrations on medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. Addresses malfunctions in both basic and complex medical devices, coordinating with supervisors for more intricate issues. Oversees the tracking and organization of reusable medical equipment (RME), ensuring accurate records and timely availability for surgical procedures. Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes surgical instruments, adhering to strict aseptic protocols to prevent infections. Ensures that surgical instrument sets are correctly assembled, tested, and packaged, ready for use in operating rooms. Identifies equipment issues and collaborate with vendors or internal teams to facilitate necessary repairs, minimizing downtime. Keeps decontamination and preparation areas clean and organized, following infection control guidelines to ensure a safe environment. Assists clinical staff with equipment usage and maintenance, offering guidance and training as needed to ensure proper handling. May perform other duties as assigned.
