Job Description: Ryan Companies is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Control Specialist to join the Operational Excellence team either in Minneapolis or Chicago! This role will play a pivotal part in enhancing project execution by documenting and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), supporting continuous performance improvement, and administering key operational tools and technologies across the organization.
To succeed in this role, you must excel at leading collaborative discussions and managing deadlines. You will serve as the primary contact for subject matter experts across departments, working with them to capture and organize their knowledge in the content management system, ensuring a single, reliable source of corporate information.
Some things you can expect to do:
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core project management and construction workflows and administer the central knowledge management platform. Initial focus on Mission Critical operations.
- Actively seek out content owners with periodic reviews due on documents and consolidated manuals to ensure subject matter experts are accountable for proactively managing content.
- Promote consistency and adoption of the One Source of Truth (OST) for all corporate knowledge and collective insights.
- Ensure processes are aligned with industry standards, client requirements, Ryan strategy, and internal operations objectives.
- Develop a deep understanding of Ryan's culture, values, and strategic objectives to understand alignment of goals and OpEx's role in embedding those messages into our corporate knowledge.
- Partner with project teams (A+E, Precon, PM, Field) to monitor project execution and identify opportunities to improve schedule, budget, and quality performance; identify gaps or inefficiencies in current practices.
- Assist in establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for project controls and operational effectiveness.
- Facilitate lessons learned reviews and implement feedback loops for continuous improvement.
- Partner with the quality team to help incorporate collective insights into the corporate knowledge.
- Administer and support construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, Smartsheet, Bridgit, Reality Capture, Closeout, etc.) and reporting tools.
- Partner with Learning and Development peers for the creation and curation of training content. Assist in the goal to create compelling courses in multiple medium as needed for all levels of the organization.
- Act as a liaison between project teams and IT/software vendors to troubleshoot issues, manage updates, and support user training.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and exception reports that provide actionable insights into project status and risk.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in project controls, project management, or business operations within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles, terminology, and best practices.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, Microsoft Project, Excel).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including public speaking skills and the ability to present ideas concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Understanding of content management system taxonomy.
- Enterprising, diplomatic, and proactive problem solver. Able to evaluate priorities and execute tasks accordingly in a constantly changing environment.
- Experience developing and implementing SOPs or process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with Lean Construction, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Advanced data analysis or visualization experience (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
Eligibility Positions require verification of employment eligibility to work in the U.S. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Compensation: The annual base pay is $80,000 - $110,000. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities.
