This position is responsible for driving and supporting food safety, food quality and regulatory compliance in approximately 1500 restaurants throughout the Northeast / East Coast division of the United States and works with cross-functional teams to drive performance in these areas. A vital component of this role will be to ensure processes and individuals are operating within compliance of Wendy's QA standards and federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires local and overnight travel within the assigned division and must be located or open to relocating to the Northeast / Eastern US.

Responsibilities
  • First contact for all food safety, quality and regulatory compliance questions or issues in assigned division. Utilizes multiple data streams to assess risk, monitor distributor and restaurant food safety and quality compliance with Wendy's Brand Standards (1st and 3rd party audits, Health Agency Reports, Pest Control Reports, Customer feedback); takes appropriate actions, as needed, to ensure compliance with same Standard; Conducts Food Safety Assessments as appropriate.
  • Conducts routine QA Workshops and participate in franchise and Company meetings to educate field team members on restaurant procedures related to food safety to ensure food safety, quality standards and regulatory compliance across all restaurants in assigned division.
  • Provide targeted support to restaurants entering escalation via on-site and virtual workshops. Conduct restaurant escalation audits to ensure food safety, quality standards and regulatory compliance standards in support of the Escalation process. Make recommendations to senior management on the implementation and maintenance of safe food handling policies, sanitation, regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support the goals of cross-functional partners in operations, training, development, and product innovation, as needed. Ensure cross-functional partners are educated in food safety basics. Leverage communications avenues to raise awareness of food safety risks.
  • Act as liaison with local health department and regulatory authorities to manage response to any regulatory inspections, complaints and/or foodborne illness investigations. Assist with Health Department variance requirements where needed as well.

What we expect from you
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology or related field - demonstrated equivalent knowledge would be considered; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience in food industry, with QSR experience and experience in food safety/QA or regulatory preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills; ability to build relationships and influence leadership
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of restaurant operations, and general administrative procedures.
  • Highly motivated with continuous improvement mindset.

The base pay range for this position is listed below. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. * The target annual bonus for this role is 20% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
