The Activity and Business Office Intern provides support to both the Life Enrichment and Business Office departments. This position offers hands-on experience in planning and facilitating resident activities, as well as exposure to administrative and operational functions within a senior living or healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Activity Support (Life Enrichment):

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and facilitating resident programs and activities.
  • Help prepare materials and setup for events, games, arts and crafts, and outings.
  • Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one companionship as needed.
  • Take photos and assist with creating activity calendars, newsletters, or social media updates.
  • Track resident participation and feedback to improve engagement.

Business Office Support:

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing resident records.
  • Help with communication efforts to families and vendors (calls, emails, letters).
  • Support in maintaining accurate billing documentation and internal logs.
  • Participate in onboarding and orientation for new hires or residents as needed.
  • Provide receptionist support (greeting visitors, answering phones) when required.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university program in healthcare administration, business, recreation therapy, gerontology, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Compassionate, patient, and enjoys working with seniors or individuals with disabilities.

  • Understand the role of activities and administrative operations in a senior care or residential community.
  • Gain real-world experience in event planning, resident engagement, and office management.
  • Develop interpersonal and professional communication skills in a collaborative workplace.

Work Conditions

  • May involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Flexible hours including occasional evenings or weekends depending on event schedules.
