Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all production floor operations, for communicating progress, and following through to shipment of orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participates in the development and execute weekly production plan.
  • Supervises all production staff to optimize effectiveness in meeting production schedule.
  • Monitors overall progress and manage the timely completion of projects; ensure Shop Floor computer transactions are timely and correct.
  • Enforces safety practices; lead bi-weekly training sessions.
  • Manages production costs and effective material usage.
  • Enforces product quality standards; work closely with Quality Control inspectors to identify deviations and identify the best way to make corrections.
  • Participates continuous improvement strategies in both resource and process utilization.
  • Reviews ERP daily to ensure that they days jobs are properly accounted for.
  • Oversees production facility maintenance and housekeeping practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of an assigned group of production employees.

Travel: Minimal; less than 5%

Qualifications:

  • Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and people skills; team player.
  • Initiative-taker with a strong ability to multi-task and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment (i.e., ability to wear required PPE, work in a dusty, hot, non-climate-controlled environment; with stairs, frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting of material).
  • Ability to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives.
  • Ability to train all production employees in all areas of manufacturing.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish needed.

  1. Office Environment - This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.
  1. Plant Environment - This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • 3+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metal fabrication.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience usingthe application of Lean methodologies.
  • Experienceusing5 Why Root Cause Methodology.
  • 3+ years of ERP experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certification from an accredited Lean Manufacturing Institute(preferred).
  • OSHA Forklift Certification (preferred).
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (preferred).
