POSITION SUMMARY:

The SAP Service Line Leader/Director of Business Applications SAP is responsible for providing strategic direction for the creation, development, execution, and leadership of all aspects of SAP based Business Applications for the company beginning with creation of an application vision and strategy that aligns with organizational goals and objectives. Position will build, lead and sustain a team of direct report managers. He / She will be accountable for the design, implementation and support of global enterprise SAP business applications. This position will ensure 24/7 operations and deliverables for SAP ERP ECC 6.0, Business Warehouse and all other SAP components required by the company. All deliverables are in alignment with the global business strategy.

This role will develop, maintain & leverage a global service delivery organization, institute ITIL best practices to deliver a suite of services with commercial catalog SLA, maintain a roadmap of SAP system & process improvements to progressively deliver higher value from the SAP assets, as well as provide governance & council to the IT & LoB leadership to realize best practice economies.

This key leadership position requires the ability to develop effective global teams, manage multiple initiatives, build/maintain strong business relationships, and facilitate positive and solution-oriented discussions with key cross functional business stakeholders. This individuals must understanding supporting systems, and organizational plus compliance requirements across multiple geographies globally.

This position will champion change throughout the IT organization as well as the corporation as a whole, providing visible improvements and tangible returns on investments. The successful candidate possesses strong management and leadership skills combined with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across all organizations within the company. This leader must challenge the status quo to continually evolve technology team members, supported technologies and services to drive operating efficiency, and enable the business process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Governance



  • Responsible for architecting, designing, building and operating Industrial Group's SAP business applications.
  • Set standards and controls for major business application systems regarding acquisition, development, and maintenance.
  • Design or re-engineer recognized "best practices" business systems that properly and efficiently utilize the existing portfolio of applications and IT resources that provide a common business practice for use throughout Matthews International.
  • Maintain enterprise applications by understanding upkeep/enhancement requirements and designing changes to the existing solution.
  • Drives statement of partnership projects, ensuring they meet customers' needs and are operationally sound - Partner with the PMO team, participate in project request assessments to maintain enterprise wide applications alignment. Provides estimates (cost, duration) for enterprise application projects.
  • Manage jointly with the other business groups SAP leaders and corporate the common SAP system governance.
  • Develop an effective network of key "super" users to provide end-user support & activate for realizing continuous process improvement.
  • Orchestrate a network of functional & BU resources to maintain effective control over master data required to sustain effectiveness of SAP processes



Operations



  • This position will direct the efforts of a global services delivery that leverages long term growth for throughout Matthews International. This position will direct and support an organization that is a combination of internal employees and multiple partnerships with global systems vendors.
  • Oversee the operations of the throughout Matthews International' applications which includes ensuring reliable, secure operations and troubleshooting and performing problem resolution to minimize system performance issues and outages
  • Ensure that application changes are appropriately documented, tested and reviewed and occur in agreed change control windows with appropriate monitoring
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
  • Ensures the security of throughout Matthews International' confidential and proprietary information and materials.
  • Establish commercially relevant application KPI to deliver global application service

Strategic Alignment



  • Participates in the Governance committee to establish IT standards, approve deviations and/or new requests. Coordinates with the architecture and SAP group to research new technology and leverage Matthews International standard of one ERP system.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and changing technologies, new hardware, new software, and systems techniques that provide the most competitive business tools that support the Matthews International' business strategies by: attending seminars, vendor conferences, trade shows, and education sessions, use of the Internet, and on-site desktop educational courses.
  • Build & maintain the 1-3 year application improvement roadmap for all enterprise SAP applications


Technology Leadership



  • Analyze industry, technology and market trends to introduce art-of-the-possible IT capabilities to the enterprise as enterprise value levers
  • Act as chief systems engineer for the SAP application/solution architecture, optimizing application landscape fit to emerging business need.
  • Introduce industry relevant best practices & act as trusted advisor to executive team regarding enterprise value improvement opportunities
  • Viewed internally and externally as a functional expert and critical talent in maximizing leverage of IT assets
  • Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent



Performance



  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results.
  • Prepare timely forecasts for the department. Accountable for its own budget.
  • Organization Development: Education and training procedures are in place to ensure IT personnel have the appropriate skill set to provide support services and meet business requirements.



Coordination



  • Develop and manage client relationships at a senior management level, within the business unit to ensure client satisfaction and the development of efficient business systems.
  • Exchange knowledge and information with other Matthews International facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with BU & IT service delivery organizations to mobilize resources beyond immediate sphere of control to deliver project commitments
  • Provide weekly communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the IT department.
  • Provide regular updates to Business Unit on the execution of the programs and projects.
  • Follows Matthews International company policies and practices while representing GD in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, customers, and vendors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for supervising multiple teams. Will directly supervise up to 7 managers/supervisors, SAP functional and technical leads. Will indirectly manage a team of 30-40 employees and contractors
  • Responsible for supervising multiple projects. Direct the efforts of large project teams of up to 20 people, consisting of personnel from Information Systems and other user organizations within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • MBA is preferred; however minimum requirement is a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management or other business related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of leading and managing SAP applications group focused on SAP ERP
  • Master at least one major SAP module (FI, CO, MM, SD,...), and very good knowledge of SAP Integration, Enterprise Architecture and integration of multiple applications
  • Working knowledge of SAP ECC, BW/BObj, BPC, Process Orchestration, SuccessFactors, Concur and SAP overall technology landscape
  • SAP experience required as functional user, Project manager or consultant - In Particular experience integrating legacy applications into an SAP landscape
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or professional services industries is required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing personnel located internationally and of diverse cultural backgrounds that may or may not be direct reports.
  • Demonstrates strong and highly effective interpersonal skills and able to build and maintaining long-term relationships, coalitions, and networks.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendors for mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT governance, operations, security practices, and audit compliance.
  • Experience with general IT best practices and framework (ITIL,...)
