YOU

As an Assistant Shipping/Receiving Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the Shipping Manager in all aspects of the warehouse, ensuring work completed efficiently and effectively throughout the Shipping and Receiving departments.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Monitor workflow processes while looking for improvement opportunities. Analyze data, such as SAP productivity reports, errors, and schedules, daily and make recommendations for improvement accordingly. Ensure critical functions are maintained such as, but not limited to: PGIs completed, proper cycle counts, batch management, and audits of orders. Create reports, spreadsheets and presentations. (60%)

Lead, motivate, train, and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Have a presence on the shop floor to assist and guide leads and employees with daily tasks. (20%)

Partner with other branches and places of knowledge to learn Simpson practices and gain new ideas to put into practice. Design and drive programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department. (20%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • A two year degree, technical school certificate in Business, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in shipping.
  • 1 year of warehouse supervision or managing others is preferred.
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • Active Listening: The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Monitoring: The ability to monitor/assess your own performance and others' to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Written Comprehension: The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Microsoft Office: The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook to carry out work.
  • Oral Comprehension: The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Process Control Analysis: The ability to conduct tests and inspections of processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of elimination of waste, continuous improvement, S5, Kaizen, Quality Built In, JIT, Kanban, and levelized production.
  • Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear, and sometimes walk and stand. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions. May also operate in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Stockton, CA.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$62,500 - $100,000 / year
