Summary

Skyworks is seeking engineering talent with expertise in RF/microwave/RFIC design with a strong emphasis on high performance Low Noise Amplifiers and RF switches. You will be part of a multi-discipline team developing LNAs, PAs, RF switches, front-end modules for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market. You will have opportunities to participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support, while adhering to best engineering practices to ensure high performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Your role will focus on circuit-level design, module co-design and optimization involving involves close interaction with product teams to devise solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design Low Noise Amplifiers and RF switches for wireless applications using SOI, SiGe or CMOS technologies.
  • Develop circuit architecture, design, layout floor-planning, layout supervision, simulation, verification, and production ramp support.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-discipline teams, including module, systems, PA, LNA, switch, and MCM design teams, to optimize co-design performance and resolve any performance/circuit design issues.
  • Conduct design reviews and present quantitative data to demonstrate compliance with internal/customer specifications based on simulation and measured results.
  • Develop and improve design performance through new architectures and ideas, maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organization, demonstrating problem-solving skills, data analysis, and critical thinking.
  • Support all stages of product development, from concept to mass production.

Required Qualifications

  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering with 6 years, PhD, or BS with 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Deep understanding of LNA/RF switch architectures, design, optimization for noise, linearity, and power handling.
  • Strong fundamentals in RFIC and analog circuit design. This includes the design of LNAs, RF switches, attenuators, and couplers for high performance wireless applications.
  • Solid understanding of RF and microwave engineering concepts such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, transmission line, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, power gain, isolation, and stability.
  • Understanding of analog design concepts such as noise analysis, linearity, mismatch, stability, and other practical analog design considerations
  • Experience in Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre RF, MATLAB, EM simulation (EMX, HFSS), and similar tools.
  • Good understanding of device matching, layout techniques, ESD and latch up.
  • Knowledge of basic device physics, RF devices and silicon characterization.
  • Good communication skills, be able to break down complex problems, set priorities, report progress, execute to a schedule, and work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in design and development of RFICs for front-end modules is a plus.
  • Knowledge of device and process technologies, as well as experience in RF integration for wireless communication products.
  • General packaging knowledge on laminate, wire bonding, WLCSP, components, and multi-chip FEM considerations.
  • Understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards
  • Experience with lab measurements and familiarity with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$112,500 -$215,900 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
