Job Summary: The Braze Operator is responsible for performing brazing operations on company products, ensuring all processes meet quality, safety, and productivity standards. This role requires proficiency in reading job sheets, blueprints, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), as well as operating specialized tools and equipment necessary for brazing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review job sheets, BOMs, and prints to verify correct units and specifications prior to brazing.
- Safely load and secure units onto the tack table, following all lifting safety standards and using proper lifting techniques.
- Verify and set fixture pins correctly to ensure secure mounting of units.
- Inspect the alignment of hubs before brazing; ensure hubs and shells are properly aligned and tacked.
- Apply flux appropriately to prevent burning and ensure strong adhesion during brazing.
- Perform brazing operations on both sides of the unit, ensuring complete and defect-free seals.
- Use appropriate safety protocols, including turning off the mizer flame at the end of shifts to mitigate fire hazards.
- Complete and maintain all required inspection forms and checklists.
- Send completed units to wash and ensure correct documentation accompanies each unit.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work area.
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
* High School Diploma or equivalent. * Experience with brazing or similar metal joining processes preferred. * Ability to read and interpret job sheets, BOMs, and blueprints. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. * Ability to safely handle materials and operate tools. * Understanding safety procedures related to lifting and brazing operations. Physical Requirements for Manufacturing Production Employees
- Standing:
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift). - Walking:
Frequent walking throughout the production floor. - Lifting and Carrying:
- Regularly lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with assistance or equipment.
- Pushing and Pulling:
Use of manual or mechanical means to push/pull carts, equipment, or materials. - Repetitive Motions:
Frequent use of hands and wrists for repetitive tasks (e.g., assembling, sorting, packaging). - Manual Dexterity:
Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle small parts or tools. - Climbing:
Occasional use of ladders or steps to reach equipment or storage areas. - Visual and Hearing Requirements:
- Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read labels, safety signs, and equipment gauges.
- Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to respond to alarms and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
- Environmental Tolerance:
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, or humid conditions).
- Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and manufacturing chemicals.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
