Summary: Under general supervision of the Hospital Attending Physician, in collaboration with clinical nursing staff, is responsible for evaluation of, and development of treatment plans. Assists in the care and management of patients to include, but not limited to, admission history and physical, ongoing assessment and intervention, coordination of care, and discharge planning. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the needs of the patient. Fosters patient and family centered care and nursing services with Lifespan's mission, vision, values Responsibilities: Initiates patient status and participates in the development of a patient care management plan with the registered nurses and the attending physician. Provides educational and liaison support to health care team members. Obtains and records medical histories, performs and records physical examinations, records pertinent progress notes in the medical records, develops treatment and discharge plans, develops follow-up plans, and initiates life-saving measures in emergency situations until aid arrives. May assist in clinical research projects, including data acquisition, entry and analysis as needed. Participates in quality improvement teams, and other committees, as needed. Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree. Certified by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role. License must include prescriptive privileges. Completion of a course in American Heart Association Basic Life Support. EXPERIENCE: Prefer experience working with psychiatric patients in some capacity. Must have patient care services, procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospital, physicians' office and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Any hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Incumbent functions independently within a broad scope of departmental policies and practices; generally, refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification, interpretation, or exception of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
