POSITION SUMMARY:

Production Planner II is a planning professional responsible for supporting MSD's production and research and development efforts. This position manages the daily activities of the planning group and the overall efforts of product planning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage all aspects of Production Planning for assigned work centers.
* Planning oversight of product fulfillment activities
o Raw Material Planning and Procurement Coordination
o Production Planning and QC efforts - Lead for Plate planning and production schedule and Plate quality control and fulfillment coordination
o Customer Order Planning and Order Fulfillment Efforts (SOPS)
* Incumbents may be required to develop and implement SOPs as well as participate in developing new documentation for the department
* Work with appropriate departments to ensure inventory levels are adequate for customer orders
* Manage internal material requisition program
* Change board participation and sign off
* Lead planning efforts for MRP implementation
* Monitor and report planning, inventory and execution metrics
* Perform and Manage special projects upon request
* Supervise the work of others in all aforementioned areas of productivity and effectiveness
o Responsible for supporting, mentoring and documenting performance evaluation for those they supervise
o Responsible for training and development of production planning personnel
* Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requests

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in a business, logistics or science related field
o May substitute degree for equivalent combination of experience/education through correspondence courses, trade school, community college, seminars, and professional certifications
* Minimum of five (5) years of experience in planning, preferably in the biotechnology, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical industries
o Three years of experience working within a planning department in a ERP/MRP manufacturing environment; preferably with JD Edwards
* Experience working within an ISO regulated environment, preferably ISO 13485. cGMP compliance experience a plus
* Managerial experience preferred
* APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification a plus
* A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Strong logistics fundamentals and analytical background
o Logical problem solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion
* Must be able to exercise sound judgment for limited decision making responsibilities
* Track record of successful production planning, inventory management and executing metrics
o Demonstrate working knowledge of cGMP, ISO and International regulations
o Demonstrate understanding of MRB management
o Experience on a change control board
o Articulate experience with developing, implementing and maintaining production planning compliance
* Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
o Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of data
o Effectively communicate production goals and expectations
* Proficient in MS Office Suite; specifically MS Excel
* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding environment with changing priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.
* There are aspects of the positions duties that require a person in this role to work at heights above four (4) feet on occasion
* May be required to lift boxes up to 25lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a traditional manufacturing office environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $76,100 to $113,200. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
