CNC Technician/Programmer

SUMMARY:

The CNC Technician/Programmer provides technical support within the department for all CNC machine shop quality issues, tooling support, training of CNC operators, troubleshooting machine and program issues. Responsible for new and existing part development/programming and optimization. The ideal candidate will perform equipment setup, operations, equipment adjustments and minor preventive maintenance tasks to meet all standards for safety, quality and efficiency by demonstrating strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Responsible for the identification and implementation of changes to routers, operations sheets, bill of materials and set up sheets.
  • Provide technical guidance and training, to new/existing employees, for all new products, processes, programs and modifications to existing elements.
  • Fill in as setup/operator as needed, capable of set up/operation on CNC lathes and mills+90%. Provide backup to cell/team/group leaders as needed.
  • Participate and or lead root cause investigation for all quality issues and dispositions related to both internal and external customers.
  • Optimizes processes to achieve the greatest benefit for the department and external customers.

Key team member on the scope, justification and installation of new equipment.

  • Adheres to all safety rules and report questionable conditions to department supervisor
  • Apply, recommend, and follow Lean practices and continuous improvement

Special Projects as assigned, including but not limited to:

  • Technical lead on all New Product Introductions including both full scale programs and also routine special engineering/design requests.
  • Provide support for any equipment layout changes ranging from cell level to full machine shop layouts.
  • Provides guidance on development needs for machine shop personnel.

Critical Competencies:

Team oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills. Proven ability to work with a sense of urgency and be results oriented. Ability to make decisions and take ownership to drive results. Individual must have the ability and willingness to train others. Candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints, and be able to apply that information to setup, program, and manufacture precision components. Tolerancing up to +/-.0002". Ability to know when to use/create additional fixturing for part manufacture.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Education or equivalent, required.

Minimum of 5 years experience setting up and operating machines.

Minimum 2 years programming CNC machines

Mazak/Mazatrol experience a plus

Certified Technical Training Cert. a plus

Proficiency in operating CNC machines with experience in conversational programming, is a plus

Salary Range:

$25.00/hr - $35.00/hr
