Position Overview

The Director of Directory Services, Authentication Services, and Privileged Access Management will lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of identity and access management (IAM) solutions with a global team. This role requires visionary leader with deep technical expertise and critical thinking to align IAM initiatives with organizational goals, ensuring a robust security, compliance and operational efficiency.

What the day will look like
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and executive a comprehensive IAM strategy, aligning directory services, authentication services, and privileged access management with business objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of global professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Directory Services: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of directory services (e.g. Active Directory, Azure) to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Authentication Services: Drive the strategy of authentication mechanisms, employee and customers, including multi-factor authentication (MFA), single sign-on, and federated identity solutions.
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM): Develop and enforce policies and solutions for managing privileged access and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, cybersecurity team members, compliance, and business units to integrate IAM solutions into the enterprise-wide systems and processes
  • Innovation and Optimization: Stay abreast of emerging IAM technologies and trends, recommending and implementing security solutions to enhance Aon's security posture and efficiency.
  • Risk Management: Identity and mitigate risks related to identity and access, ensuring compliance with industry standards (GDPR, SOC).
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relations with third-party vendors and vendor teams, ensuring service level agreements (SLAS) are met and deliverables align with Aon's strategic goals.
  • Budget and Resource Planning: Manage budgets, resources, and project timelines to deliver IAM initiatives on time and within scope.
Skills and experience that will lead to success

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of directory services (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience is preferred
  • Expertise in authentication protocols (e.g. SAML, OAuth, Open ID Connect) and MFA solutions
  • Strong understanding of PAM tools (e.g. CyberArk, Beyond Trust)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based IAM solutions (e.g. Okta, Entra ID)
Leadership Skills
  • Experienced strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate diverse, geographically distributed teams
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA) preferred.
  • Proven experience leading global teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated success in development and leading IAM initiatives
Other Requirements
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, NIST).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiations

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $170,000 to $216,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
