THE ROLE
The Editorial Consultant role combines excellent editorial precision with creative, concise copywriting. The role will focus on copyediting and proofreading our full range of marketing and editorial content as well as writing short-form content such as headlines, social media posts, email copy, web banners, and promotional blurbs. This role requires a sharp editorial eye, a firm grasp of investment language, and the ability to simplify complex financial ideas into clear, audience-friendly messaging. Working closely with the editorial team, designers, marketing managers, investment writers and other internal teams, the role will help ensure our content is accurate, engaging, brand-consistent and compliant.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Copyedits and proofreads a wide variety of marketing, client-facing and internal content to ensure clarity, consistency, grammar, and adherence to MFS' voice and brand positioning.

  • Writes and refines short-form copy for digital and print use, including headlines, subheads, email subject lines, banner ads, social media posts, and video scripts.

  • Collaborates with writers, designers, and marketers to craft compelling copy that aligns with MFS' business objectives, brand and style standards.

  • Ensures all content meets regulatory and compliance standards in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.

  • Maintains and helps evolve the firm's editorial style guide and tone of voice.

  • Reviews and edits investment content to align with both brand and industry standards without compromising technical accuracy.

  • Prioritizes and manages multiple deliverables on tight timelines while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Communicates all edits and comments in a timely and effective manner.

  • Helps train and educate members of editorial team and other internal partners on style guidelines and editorial standards.

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all MFS product lines, business channel communications needs, and major legal and compliance guidelines.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in English, Journalism, Communications, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5-6+ years of professional experience in financial copyediting and copywriting.

  • Experience in asset or wealth management, financial publishing, or institutional investment communications preferred.

  • Excellent command of grammar, syntax, punctuation, and AP style.

  • Expert editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage a high volume of projects simultaneously.

  • Strong portfolio of short-form content and evidence of editorial rigor in a regulated industry.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and project management tools a plus.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.
