Essential Job Duties |
NC State Student Centers create memorable experiences for students, guests, and alumni by providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. We support student growth and involvement through exceptional service and facilities in alignment with the university's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Open Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center each morning, ensuring health and safety protocols are met.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance.
- Manage daily event operations, including preparation, monitoring, and turnover.
- Lead a team of 2-6 Setup Assistants during large event setups in the ballrooms.
- Supervise up to 3 Operations Assistants to ensure safe and accurate meeting room setups.
- Set up and test AV equipment (e.g., projectors, laptops).
- Communicate event and facility updates to relevant staff.
- Inspect rooms and equipment; report maintenance issues.
- Assist clients with event setup changes as needed.
- Respond to incidents, injuries, and crises.
- Supervise, train, and develop 3-6 student staff per shift.
- Complete detailed shift reports.
- Engage with guests and provide information about NC State and the Student Centers.
- Work special events and perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings.
- Adhere to all NC State Student Centers policies and expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.

- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Experience working with teams that serve a broad range of individuals and backgrounds
- Willingness to support all functions of Student Centers
- Successful completion of the Building Manager training

Minimum Experience/Education |
- High School Diploma
- Experience supervising student employees or part-time staff
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours
