Position Summary

The Executive Director of Specialty Lending and Capital Markets is a senior leader responsible for driving the growth, profitability, and strategic direction of the bank's specialty lending portfolio and capital markets activities. This role oversees the origination, structuring, and syndication of complex credit facilities, while also managing relationships with institutional investors, middle-market clients, and internal stakeholders. Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic and Operational Leadership:

  • Lead the development and execution of the bank's specialty lending and capital markets strategy.
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities in commercial lending, syndicated finance, and structured credit.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align lending strategies with the bank's risk appetite and growth objectives.

Specialty Lending Oversight:

  • Oversee the origination and underwriting of specialized credit products including asset-based lending (ABL), leveraged finance, equipment finance, and sponsor-backed transactions.
  • Ensure credit quality and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Manage portfolio performance, including risk ratings, covenant compliance, and loss mitigation strategies.

Capital Markets Execution:

  • Lead the structuring, syndication, and distribution of loan transactions to institutional investors and bank partners.
  • Maintain strong relationships with syndicate banks, rating agencies, and capital providers.
  • Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to optimize deal execution and investor engagement.

Client and Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key commercial and institutional clients.
  • Partner with relationship managers and product teams to deliver tailored financing solutions.
  • Represent the bank at industry events and client meetings to enhance market presence.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of lending and capital markets professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and credit risk management
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex credit transactions and capital markets executions.
  • Loan products and the syndicated loan business
  • Financial services, specifically within commercial banking
  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Ability to:

  • Multi-task and work independently
  • Build relationships with internal partners and external financial institutions
  • Provide expertise in commercial lending, structured finance and capital markets execution within a regulated banking environment.
  • Analyze and solve problems
  • Review and negotiate operational and regulatory terms within legal loan documentation
  • Perform duties under frequent time pressures

Compensation and Benefits

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $250,000-$300,000
