Summary/Description:
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full-time Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist, Coordinator of the Mail Order Program at Wood Street Pharmacy. This position is responsible for oversight of mail order program growth and serving as a liaison for Ambulatory Pharmacy clinics.

Duties:
The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Additional expectations may include scholarly activities, including presentations and publications.

Clinical Pharmacist duties include working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medical staff and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care services to all patients of Wood Street Pharmacy, including but not limited to, oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing and proper documentation of patient medication therapy as well as provide drug information and oversight over information and dispensing systems.
  • Provides oversight for pharmacists and technicians, involved in managing patients' medication therapies, capturing prescriptions, and expanding services to other clinics.
  • Assesses gaps in workflow and assigns adequate coverage to patient care areas.
  • Supervises and directs staff when drug-related problems arise and ensures appropriate communication with all personnel involved.
  • Conducts weekly/bi-weekly huddles with various teams for workflow changes and improvements.
  • Acts as lead contact for special projects for pharmacy operation efficiency and financial opportunity improvements.
  • Evaluates performance and identifies development and training needs for technicians and externs.
  • Assist with training pharmacy residents in operational workflow with clinical services at the Wood Street Pharmacy
  • Provides orientation for healthcare providers and/or other clinic staff at the Wood Street Pharmacy.
  • Maintains daily workflow and communications between multiple programs and services, including the wood street pharmacy, call center, clinical care center, the prior authorization center, and the Medication Assistance Program team.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for the College of Pharmacy managed programs (transplant, allergy, oncology, specialty, acute mail order, etc.), as well as taking the lead in obtaining new patients and helping expand our mail order program.
  • Drafts operation manuals for all new and existing services pertaining to mail order and specialty.
  • Schedules daily huddles and supervises residents and students on rotation in the Wood Street Pharmacy.
  • Oversees the updating of the mail order policy and procedures, and any related policies.
  • Ensures pharmacy staff are informed of changes in pharmacy operation policy and procedures.
  • Serves as liaison between pharmacy operations staff and assistant director.
  • Establishes and maintains interdepartmental communication and shares it with the team.
  • Responsible for producing various reports.

    Qualifications:
  • PharmD from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program.
  • Illinois pharmacist license as a registered pharmacist or eligibility for an Illinois license by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations is required by start date.
  • Completion of a clinical residency and/or fellowship or have a minimum of three years of equivalent experience of practice in a clinical setting and/or education/experiential education.
  • Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Retzky College of Pharmacy. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
