DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position directly supervises caseworkers who provide ongoing services to children/youth/families in need of on-going Child Abuse or General Protective Services. Supervision is provided mainly through weekly casework conferences and review of all casework dictation, service plans, and treatment plans. The Supervisor will maintain a log which clearly outlines the dates and contents of supervisory meetings on a no less than monthly basis.

You will be responsible for the daily supervision of up to five case workers and one social service aide. Work includes approving leave and biweekly employee timesheets and completing and signing performance evaluations for employees in this unit. Key to this position is ensuring compliance with legal benchmarks and achieving timely permanency for children in placement.

Additional duties to include but not limited to:

  • Preparing caseworkers for court and monitoring compliance with resulting court orders
  • Carrying a caseload of Children and Youth clients
  • Assisting with the supervision of other Agency units as needed
  • Monitoring all forms, deadlines, etc. and compiling statistical information from this unit
  • Involvement in the planning of services and supervising the provision of services for any child and family involved in In-Home or Placement services
  • Coordinating permanency review meetings and other review team meetings, determining the need for case review meetings, and preparing agendas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • On-Call 24/7 - on a rotating basis. Irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. Possible travel requiring overnight stays. Possible after hours appointments or emergencies.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
