Engineer II

Location:
Hybrid, Portland, OR

Pay Range: $50-$58 per hour

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established utility company that provides safe, reliable natural gas service to residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the Pacific Northwest.

Role Summary:

This position supports engineering and project management for gas facility operations, including planning, design, and execution of projects involving gas storage, compression, control systems, and LNG/CNG infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and support ongoing field operations.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Lead design, planning, and project coordination for plant and station upgrades.



  • Conduct cost analysis and recommend cost-effective solutions for installations.



  • Provide engineering and project support for gas storage facilities, compressors, odorization systems, and control equipment.



  • Review and approve construction drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards.



  • Coordinate with field and office teams to ensure resource efficiency and project execution.



  • Support field operations with technical guidance and problem-solving.



  • Collaborate with internal technical specialists, including telecom and controls experts.



  • Contribute to budgeting efforts and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.



Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical or civil preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is highly desirable.



  • Demonstrated experience managing construction projects.



  • Familiarity with federal pipeline safety regulations, APWA standards, and OSHA requirements.



  • Strong communication skills for working with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies.



  • Proficiency in interpreting and using 2D AutoCAD drawings.



  • Strong technical writing and reporting abilities.



  • Ability to travel to field and construction sites as needed.



  • Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
