What you will do:

The Wound, Ostomy & Continence Care Nurse/Educator provides specialized care, functions as a clinician, coordinator, educator and consultant for patients with diseases related to the skin, bowel or bladder and complex wounds. Accountable for providing consultation, clinical teaching, clinical supervision, role modeling, program development, nursing research and interdisciplinary cooperation with healthcare personnel as well as providing direct patient care and patient/family consultation and education. Facilitates the development, implementation, and ongoing management of a model for professional practice that fosters the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care, as well as the professional development of staff. Utilizes Evident Based Practice principles into the practice to support the quality of care at Sibley Memorial Hospital.

What you will bring:




  1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master's Degree preferred.
  2. Graduate of an accredited Wound, Ostomy and Continence Program.
  3. Minimum of 3-5 years of medical/surgical nursing required; one year of wound, ostomy and continence nursing strongly preferred.
  4. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
  5. Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Care Nursing Through the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board is required.
  6. Current CPR/BLS Certification required.


Salary Range: Minimum 50.81/hour - Maximum 78.75/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
