Summary

Saint Xavier University invites applicants for an open-rank Tenure-Track Faculty Director Position in History. The director will lead the History and Political Science department, which includes the Secondary Education Social Science-History major, Political Science major, minors in related areas, and the History and some Social Sciences component of the general education program.

Saint Xavier University is a Hispanic Serving Institution and has a significant percentage of minority and first-generation college students.

Start date is in the Fall of 2025. Rank depends on credentials and years of experience; salary commensurate with experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach 9 credit hours each semester of History courses related to one's area of expertise
  • Lead all activities of the History and Political Science department
  • Manage the curriculum and assessment for the majors, minors, and general education course offerings
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, mentor, and support adjunct and full-time faculty
  • Participate in department and university service
  • Establish a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations
  • Provide service to the program, college, and university

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in History
  • Excellence in collegiate teaching grounded in evidence-based best practices for teaching and learning
  • Experience with curriculum design and assessment
  • A record of scholarship
  • Experience in or potential for excellence in leadership

COMPENSATION

Salary and rank will be determined by credentials and experience.
