Summary Saint Xavier University invites applicants for an open-rank Tenure-Track Faculty Director Position in History. The director will lead the History and Political Science department, which includes the Secondary Education Social Science-History major, Political Science major, minors in related areas, and the History and some Social Sciences component of the general education program. Saint Xavier University is a Hispanic Serving Institution and has a significant percentage of minority and first-generation college students. Start date is in the Fall of 2025. Rank depends on credentials and years of experience; salary commensurate with experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Teach 9 credit hours each semester of History courses related to one's area of expertise Lead all activities of the History and Political Science department Manage the curriculum and assessment for the majors, minors, and general education course offerings Hire, supervise, evaluate, mentor, and support adjunct and full-time faculty Participate in department and university service Establish a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations Provide service to the program, college, and university Qualifications Doctorate in History Excellence in collegiate teaching grounded in evidence-based best practices for teaching and learning Experience with curriculum design and assessment A record of scholarship Experience in or potential for excellence in leadership COMPENSATION Salary and rank will be determined by credentials and experience.
