THE JOB: The Chief Pilot is responsible for overseeing the safe and compliant operation of company aircraft by developing and implementing operational standards, training programs, and evaluation protocols. This role provides leadership to Assistant Chief Pilots and their teams, fostering a culture of safety and employee engagement aligned with company goals. The Chief Pilot ensures all flight operations adhere to FAA regulations, OEM guidelines, and internal policies, while maintaining up-to-date manuals and international procedures. As a subject matter expert on the fleet, the Chief Pilot remains current on all aircraft types, leads safety initiatives, evaluates pilot performance, and contributes to hiring and crew pairing decisions. This position reports to the Vice President of Aviation and plays a key role in the strategic and safe execution of global flight operations.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Promote and reinforce MGM Resorts Aviation's safety culture across all aviation operations. Regularly serve as Pilot-in-Command, ensuring safe, efficient, and standardized service while actively monitoring and modeling flight crew procedures. Provide daily leadership and oversight to flight personnel, ensuring the consistent application of safe and efficient operating practices. Direct and support Assistant Chief Pilots in administering pilot performance evaluations, commendations, coaching, counseling, and remedial training. Develop and manage pilot schedules based on executive travel needs and aircraft availability. Stay current with and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, local, and international aviation regulations and standards. Design, implement, and deliver pilot training programs aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure appropriate pilot staffing per aircraft type based on marketing and operational demand. Oversee assigned operational areas, including Training, Standards, Quality Assurance, Documentation, Publications, Regulatory Compliance, and International Operations. Collaborate with the Vice President of Aviation and Director of Safety to review and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), recommending updates as needed.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification. They bring over five years of experience in aviation training or leadership roles, such as a Line Instructor or Training Manager, and have at least five years of experience developing operational procedures for jet aircraft. Additionally, they have a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity, with direct involvement in international operations including NAT, PAC, NOPAC, and EUROCONTROL. The candidate has accumulated over 7,500 total flight hours, including 5,000 hours of multi-engine turbine time, and has substantial experience operating large-cabin aircraft with advanced avionics. They either hold or are capable of obtaining type ratings for all company aircraft and maintain a clean FAA record with no accidents or incidents. This individual demonstrates deep knowledge of FARs and international procedures, technical excellence in aircraft operations, and a strong track record of leadership in flight safety, crew training, and operational standardization. The position will reside in Atlantic City.
