DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this highly responsible role, you will function as an assistant to the director and perform human services work organizing and scheduling activities for senior citizens for our multi-purpose senior center. Work involves planning, instructing, and implementing various classes, events, and trips for the benefit and enjoyment of aging adults. Your responsibilities will include instructing various arts and craft classes, securing speakers for the center's various special programs, coordinating nutrition programs and activities, and ensuring the welfare of participants on group trips. You will also help maintain accurate records of the center's program participation, supplies, and financial activity, as well as handle any unusual or emergency situations as they arise. Our team will rely on you to act as the agency representative in all center related programs involving consumers. This includes responding to questions for information via email, in person, or over the telephone, as well as making referrals for consumers to appropriate human service agencies so they can obtain benefits and services which they are eligible to receive. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
