Post Doctoral Scholar

Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
United States, Ohio, Columbus
281 West Lane Avenue (Show on map)
May 24, 2025

The Pharmacoanalytical Shared Resource (PhASR) seeks a postdoctoral scholar to learn and apply pharmacometrics methodologies in cancer-focused research. The Postdoctoral Scholar Pharmacometrics in the PhASR will support data collection, quality control of data, data analysis, modeling, simulation and PK/PD study design for human clinical trials and also, to a lesser extent, for non-clinical pharmacology studies conducted in animals. A majority of this activity will be in support of National Cancer Institute sponsored clinical trials through The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Centers UM1 and U24 grants, and other portions of this activity will support investigator-initiated trials and other research supported by the PhASR. These studies involve the clinical and pre-clinical development of novel anti-cancer therapies and novel drug combinations, as well as characterizing the mechanisms of resistance to FDA approved agents. These activities of the successful candidate for this position will aim to characterize pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics or the relationship between both (PK/PD) of small and large molecule anti-cancer agents using statistical modeling approaches to enable further simulation and prediction either within or beyond the study population evaluated. Intensive literature research will be required to understand the current state of knowledge on specific drugs PK and PD properties and on state-of-the-art approaches for study design optimization, dose individualization, and PK/PD modeling and simulation. Frequent interactions with PhASR users, including hematologists, medical oncologists, clinical research staff, and other basic and translational scientists will occur to enable appropriate study-design and fit-for-purpose modeling efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (per position specifications):

PharmD or PhD in pharmacology, statistics, engineering, or related field; specific training, experiences, and a demonstrated track record in applying PK/PD modeling and simulation tools

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience using NONMEM, R, Monolix and/or other platforms for analysis of clinical and/or preclinical pharmacology data; development of web-based tools and web interfaces for PK/PD model parameter estimation and simulation in popPK/PD, PBPK-PD, and/or QSP approach; model-informed precision dosing and sampling optimization in pharmacometrics approach.

Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The Ohio State University is a dynamic community of diverse resources, where opportunity thrives and where individuals transform themselves and the world. The Ohio State University is one of the nations largest and most comprehensive public universities and a top employer in Ohio.

As one of only 54 designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute is dedicated to the creation of knowledge in laboratory, clinical and population-based cancer research. We apply those discoveries to develop more effective approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and therapies providing tomorrows standard of care today. A Cancer-Free World Begins Here.

The OSUCCC James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nations largest public universities. is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nations largest public universities.
