Detailed Job Description:

Scope of Position:

A postdoctoral scholar is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Nam Chu, within the Department of Cancer Biology and Genetics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. The lab focuses on investigating the impact of posttranslational modifications (PTMs) and allosteric regulation of protein kinases and phosphatases in cancer and neurological disorder signaling pathways.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and motivated research team, utilizing an array of techniques in protein chemistry, biochemistry, peptide synthesis, enzymology, cell biology, and human iPSCs to explore disease mechanisms and the roles of protein kinases and PTMs (e.g., phosphorylation, ubiquitination). The candidate will collaborate closely with team members and mentors to advance ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Conduct cutting-edge research on protein kinases and PTMs, contributing to understanding of cancer and neurological diseases.
+ Apply a variety of techniques including protein chemistry, peptide synthesis, enzymology, and cell-based assays.
+ Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
+ Contribute to research publications and presentations.

Qualifications:

+ PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
+ Strong background in protein and peptide chemistry, particularly with protein ligation and conjugation techniques
+ Experience in mammalian cell culture, protein/peptide mass spectrometry, and fluorescence-based techniques (e.g., FRET, nano-BRET) is highly desirable.
+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
