We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in New Orleans, LA.

Earn $125/hr

Schedule: 26hrs/week (Operating hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 - 4:30pm)

Position Details:

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive mental health care to patients living with chronic mental illness. The PMHNP will work in collaboration with our psychiatrist and registered nurses to diagnose and manage patients' mental health concerns. The PMHNP will provide services in the community and will ride along with another staff member to provide these services.

The PMNHP will:

• Conduct psychiatric patient evaluations to determine medication needs, documenting evaluations and interactions with the patient in the electronic health record.
• Prescribe pharmacologic therapies including controlled substances, monitoring progress and making necessary changes to patients' medications.
• Facilitate direct patient admissions into hospitals when needed.
• Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to develop coordinated treatment plans.

About our team:

The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team is a self contained clinical team which assumes responsibility for directly providing needed treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to identified clients with severe and persistent mental health illnesses. The PMHNP supervises and evaluates the multidisciplinary team in conjunction with appropriate psychiatric support to ensure service excellence and courteous, helpful, and respectful services to program clients; and functions as a practicing clinician on the team.

*This is a community-based program, travel is required.
