Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Memphis, TN maintenance team in the position of Maintenance Supervisor (Third Shift). The Maintenance FLS is responsible for the effective and safe execution of daily maintenance activities performed by IFF mechanics and provides leadership for all maintenance work within the unit/site. The Maintenance FLS is responsible for performance management, improvement & utilization of maintenance management systems and development of their maintenance organization. The Maintenance FLS ensures maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety, health, and regulatory standards to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand the Maintenance strategy (goals), how it pertains to ensuring operations in the production process, and how equipment effectiveness and availability impacts the Production strategy.
  • Participate and Lead Integration of the Work Management Process (WMP) into the maintenance mechanics, E&I technicians, AutoPack technicians and contractors engaged in the maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Work Identification:

  • Verify equipment readiness
  • Communicate work assignments
  • Execute job scope
  • Ensure that all work is permitted appropriately and authorized accordingly.

Planning:

  • Responsible for planning Emergency Work (PM15) and coordinating that work with the Production FLS/ATO.
  • Align on scope of work with Production ATO and Planner
  • Order all parts and materials for jobs when needed.
  • Keep equipment files up to date
  • Verify parts are correct when delivered.
  • Verify Maintenance Plans are developed including Safe Work Execution.
  • Provides feedback to planner on effectiveness of planned job scope before jobs are marked Ready to Schedule (RTS).

Scheduling:

  • Reviews the draft weekly schedule, provides feedback, & participates in the weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Reviews the daily schedule, provides feedback & participates in the daily scheduling meetings.
  • Responsible for training of Maintenance Technicians
  • Responsible for scheduling work for Maintenance Technicians
  • Responsible for proper staffing in maintenance area including vacation planning.

Supervising:

  • Demonstrated supervisory and scheduling skills for personnel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience and understanding of maintenance operations
  • Responsible for site pay system (ETIME) approvals adjustments and any activities associated with corrections such as retroactive corrections through the HR Portal of direct reports.
  • Initiates or recommends personnel actions and administers company policy.
  • Coaching and employee development of less experienced employees.
  • Perform job duties in a manner that follows food safety and quality guidelines.

Coordination:

  • Support start-of-shift activities to conduct effective toolbox discussions and ensure work is initiated safely and efficiently
  • Monitor in-progress work to remove barriers and maximize wrench-turning effectiveness
  • Conduct effective shift handover to update work status (completed vs outstanding jobs) and manage in-progress work

Accomplishment:

  • Support equipment readiness before deployment of maintenance resources on day of scheduled work execution
  • Validate acceptable completion of maintenance/engineering activities.

Documentation:

  • Review documentation for completed work to ensure accurate capture of execution activities (actual hours, tasks, materials used, as found/as left data, TECO'd)
  • Create work notifications for corrective work based on the results of preventive or predictive maintenance activities
  • Route work documentation to appropriate Maintenance organization resources
  • (Reliability, Planning)
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of PSM Critical Work Orders by scheduled DUE DATE.
  • Responsible for PSM Critical Corrective Action Work (CAWs) are completed on their scheduled due date.
  • Support the integration of the Reliability Management Process (RMP) into the production culture.
  • Improve SAP equipment structure by utilizing defects found during the Work Identification step to create a new/change equipment or functional location request form for use with the Reliability Improvement Team
  • Active team member on the area Reliability Improvement Team to ensure alignment on bad actors and impact to the production goals, production representative in the MRO Inventory managing process(es) that is led by the MRO Planner.
  • Active team member for proactive MRO solutions change in inventory levels (loss production vs. inventory holding costs analysis)

Qualifications
We are looking for an effective, results-driven, self-directed and motivated team player who communicates in an open, honest manner. In addition, qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 2-year Mechanical Technology certificate OR at least two years of progressive levels of responsibility in an industrial, maintenance, electrical, or construction environment
  • Lean Six Sigma or DPS project/event experience - preferred
  • Project and/or systems management experience - preferred
  • Previous training experience - preferred

Knowledge of:

  • Safe Work Practices
  • Site safety and environmental requirements and policies
  • Plant work requirements and procedures
  • Plant equipment and repair procedures
  • DPS principles and how they apply to the workplace
  • Production strategies/goals and equipment requirements to meet yield, uptime, cost of manufacture, and working capital goals
  • Production process, how the equipment connects, and how equipment performance impacts the production process
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, site safety and environmental requirements and policies, plant work requirements and procedures, plant equipment and repair procedures, DPS principles and how they apply to the workplace, and production strategies/goals and equipment requirements to meet yield, uptime, cost of manufacture, and working capital
  • Production process, how the equipment connects, and how equipment performance impacts the production process
