About this role:
This role leads and develops team efficiency and speed with the Trial Operations (TOPS) teams responsible for Clinical Site Opening, Maintenance, and Closing including cycle-time speed to market, operating costs, and productivity. Through cross-functional and cross-divisional collaboration, this leader ensures the successful completion of clinical trial plans and deliverables. The Associate Director of Global TOPs will be accountable for team strategy, appropriate resourcing of projects, and further development of staff and teams to meet organizational objectives including best-in-class site opening support and site personnel and divisional partner service.

Work Mode:
This role follows hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our BSC local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Development and execution of TOPs team strategy, staffing plans, and development and training of assigned staff to ensure high performance and in accordance with BSC policies. Manages interpersonal issues and conflict resolutions. Provides vendor oversight, when applicable.
  • Collaborates, interfaces, and influences regularly with Project and Program Managers, Directors, and Clinical VPs in planning, prioritizing, budgeting, and executing clinical trial plans, mitigating risk, and addressing challenges.
  • Ensures best practices of study conduct are leveraged across the clinical organization and implements process efficiencies where possible and gives input on global harmonization among staff through other clinical functional leaders.
  • Responsible for managing team budget, resource models, and leads TOPs team to support financial planning, strategic planning, and AOP in alignment with divisional leadership and strategies.
  • Accountable for maintenance and further enhancement of meaningful metrics to support the TOPs activities and objectives, including global study start-up process (e.g., ATE metrics).
  • Leads initiatives that improve efficiencies of functional processes. Applies knowledge of business and industry drivers to maximize performance of teams.
  • Creates and fosters an environment encouraging changes, promotes innovative thinking and risk-taking within scope of business responsibility. Develops processes and supporting key performance indicators to continuously improve business effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and ensures staff adheres to the appropriate application of clinical research conduct, laws, regulations, and standards, and compliance with applicable BSC SOPs and policies.



Required qualifications:



  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or relevant medical device industry experience
  • Proven leadership experience with combined minimum of 15 years of Global Clinical trial, Clinical Operations and/or Medical/Device Research.
  • Minimum 10 years people leadership experience in building and/or leading high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of ICH/GCP, FDA and ISO/EU MDR regulations and guidelines, and experience working with clinical trial management systems (e.g. Veeva), clinical document control and reporting systems
  • Experience following standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WIs) in a quality environment



Preferred qualifications:



  • Proven experience in organizational change leadership, process improvement, and driving operational efficiency via metrics and cost savings
  • Financial acumen and budget management and project management skills

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
