Description
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Possess knowledge of aircraft and support equipment maintenance practices, applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications, basic tools, special tools, test equipment and the operation and maintenance of tire/wheel brake down and build up equipment and machinery. Must have working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention, and treatment.
- Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Maintenance Instructions, LCP's, Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Technical Directives, Manufacture manuals and Company Instructions.
- Required to become and maintain "I" Level Aircraft and Support Equipment Tire/Wheel qualified and certified.
- Must have all required personal tools and box established within 30 days of hire or job assignment.
- May be required to perform Collateral Duty Quality Control Inspections (CDQAR\CDI).
- Coordinate with Lead/Supervisor/Quality Assurance to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or on repair procedures.
- May be required to assist other mechanics/senior mechanics within the work center/division in the performance of their duties, (i.e. during periods of increased workload).
- Maintain cleanliness of the workcenter and around your work area.
- Comply with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and Tool Control rules and regulations including participation in FOD walkdowns when directed.
- Required to accurately record all labor entries.
- Document all work accomplished and maintain maintenance records IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable instructions.
- May be required to perform off-site service.
- May be required to perform duties of HAZMAT/HazWaste Custodian or Assistant Custodian when authorized and designated.
- May be required to wear a respirator while performing work related duties.
- Know location of safety data sheet (SDS) and applicable safety precautions.
- May be required to perform scheduled/unscheduled inventories.
- Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
- Other projects and initiatives as assigned as well as other reasonably related duties when directed.
Physical Requirements: Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed fifty (50) pounds. Working Environment: The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard climate-controlled environment where there is no physical discomfort, to a non-climate-controlled environment, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. Professional Requirements, Qualifications, and Desired Competencies:
- A minimum of one (1) year of "I" level experience or equivalent as an Aircraft/SE Tire/Wheel Maintenance Technician or if currently on the AIMD contract is preferred, not required.
- Must have a valid state operator's license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements for support equipment.
- Obtain and maintain all applicable SE licenses.
- Must have graduated from or complete within 30 days of hire, a Navy approved corrosion training course.
- Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED) AND one (1) year of experience in work related to the above-described examples are preferred, not required.
- Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instructions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC Card.
- Certifications/Licensing as required by the Program Training and Certification Manual.
- Certifications/Licensing as required by the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
- Must be able to pass periodic medical surveillance evaluations which may include respirator fit testing when required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance within 12 months of hire.
- Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.
- The essential physical requirements of the position will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
- Some travel may be required.
