Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Office of Science and Research as a Senior Data Analyst. In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team whose primary goal is to frame and conduct data analyses which drive the strategy and operations of NYU Langone Health's research enterprise. The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for determining data requirements, designing data collection tools, constructing and managing databases, conducting statistical analysis supporting the development and maintenance of research-related institutional dashboards, and presenting findings to senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compiles, analyzes and reports on research-related market, financial and performance data. Sample sources include internal systems/data repositories (e.g., PeopleSoft, Research Navigator, Faculty data hub) and external sources such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Synthesizes complex information to communicate project deliverables in a clear, accurate and easy to understand manner. Supports synthesis and communication of individual deliverables into broader conclusions and recommendations.
  • Maintains and utilizes several databases including but not limited to the NIH Awards database and faculty research expectations for analysis and to test data reliability and validity.
  • Supports data collection and analysis related to ongoing research performance management processes, including but not limited to departmental research mission snapshot goals/results and analytics center enhancements. Assists stakeholders with any questions related to research performance data.
  • Manages and maintains existing research dashboards through regular monitoring of data and implement enhancements based on feedback from the departments and from leadership.
  • Designs and manages User Acceptance Testing and data validation on new dashboards that are in development, collaborating with others in MCIT and OSR to resolve issues.
  • Responds to ad hoc questions and requests from colleagues throughout the research enterprise and generates reports and analyses as required.
  • Relates well to all kinds of people at all levels both inside and outside the organization.
  • Maintains the Office of Science & Research departmental culture by acting as a role model for team members through positive attitude, willingness to work at all levels, and commitment to the team.
  • Effectively communicates and develops a professional level of cooperation across the organization determining the best approach to drive project success through formal channels and informal networks.
  • Assists OSR leadership with long-range financial projections, research mission performance analyses and other special projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Healthcare Administration or in a related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in data analysis and programming. Experience with databases, data analysis, statistical and specialized software. In particular, experience with PowerPoint and Excel (including advanced functions, such as complex formulas, pivot tables, graphing) is required and with SQL Developer and Tableau is preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to translate concepts into practice.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights, and communicate these insights to different stakeholders with varying priorities and goals.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome roadblocks and develop consensus in solutions where there may be a variety competing interests or viewpoints.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of departments across the School of Medicine.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality product on time consistently.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $90,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
