The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) provides for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and maintains and enhances the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of City residents. Fleet Services is dedicated to ensuring the safety and operational readiness of the department's vehicles and equipment. This is achieved through proactive maintenance, strict adherence to state-mandated inspections, and comprehensive compliance programs. Minimum Qualifications Qualification Requirements Preferred Skills
A minimum of 10 years of experience in managing and monitoring fleet safety & compliance issues for a large government agency. A minimum of 5 years of supervising ten or more employees. Ability to produce concise, accurate reports and work comfortably with MS-Office to create Excel Spreadsheets and similar analytical tools. Interested candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritize, manage time, and engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be organized, highly motivated, and able to work well independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure, and time constraints. Candidate's absences and tardiness should not be excessive and must be within department guidelines. Candidate should have good judgment as to when to elevate issues, exercise confidentiality, and use discretion. Ability to carry out staff evaluations, identify training requirements, mentor and positively manage staff as well as carry out disciplinary action when required. The Class A Commercial Driver License with no restrictions must be maintained for the duration of employment. 55a Program

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
