ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) is an FAA certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. We are the sole maintenance provider for ConocoPhillips' fleet of three DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS handles ground operations, inventory control, and passenger screening for all flights between Anchorage, Kuparuk and Alpine. With over 70 dedicated employees, we also provide contract maintenance for two DHC-6-300/400 Twin Otters and one CASA 212-300 aircraft based in Alpine, AK.

SALARY:



  • This role offers a starting wage of $43.00 per hour and pay will increase with experience through applicable premiums.


BONUS INFORMATION:

  • Relocation support may be available for eligible candidates.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Technician is responsible for assigning, leading, and directing of other aircraft maintenance technicians under their supervision. They also provide training and coaching in performing aircraft and component maintenance and modifications. The Lead is a working member of their crews and participates in the daily tasks as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Must be knowledgeable and have extensive experience in the repair and troubleshooting of Company maintained aircraft.
  • Supervise personnel and maintain adequate production levels.
  • The Lead Mechanic derives their authority from and is directly responsible to the Maintenance Foreperson.
  • He must be capable of troubleshooting applicable mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrates a high skill level as a mechanic and supervises personnel.
  • Perform the duties of Flight Mechanic when scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must possess valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings.
  • A moderate degree of reasoning, math skills, and language skills are required for this position. High School levels are sufficient for all areas.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with coworkers and customers.


COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A solid understanding of TRAX is a plus.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and maintain eligibility per DOT/FAA guidelines.
  • Valid passport or acquire one within the first 6 Months of employment.


TRAVEL:

  • Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The work is classified as "heavy".
  • Physical ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position in a safe and effective manner including lifting to 70 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, moving aircraft and equipment, dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, exposure to hazardous materials, exhaust fumes, working in confined spaces for extended periods, and working outside in harsh winter conditions for up to 2 hours at a time. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators is required.
