Alongside the team, you will be assigned to a variety of projects in your chosen area of interest, working to deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve.

With guidance from a professional engineer and our global practice network, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:



  • Actively participating in project, client and team meetings
  • Gaining exposure to project, commercial, and client management
  • Attending site inspections, tests, audits, and investigations
  • Monitoring and reporting status of projects
  • Analyzing reports, specifications, and studies
  • Observing and supporting day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities in a transit agency setting
  • Becoming familiar with rolling stock maintenance practices, rules and regulations
  • Gaining knowledge of proposals and technical specification development.
  • Undertaking a 'digital by default' approach in deliverables
  • Actively participating in our Early Careers Professionals Network
  • Supporting our 'Purpose' in everything you do

To be considered for this co-op/intern position, you will currently beworking towards a master's degree or abachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with a focus on transportation, from an accredited university. This candidate will be based in our Los Angeles, CA office.

We are looking for students with the following characteristics:



  • Prior relevant internships, co-ops, or practical work-experience preferred
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a team of professionals who are deeplycommitted to exceeding client expectations

At Mott MacDonald, we provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, short-term/long-term disability, paid holidays, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance.

The expected salary for this position is $17.00 - $33.00 per hour.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
