The University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine Job Description
Lead performance improvement (PI) activities in areas of responsibility in collaboration with team leader(s) to achieve MU Health Care system goals, informed by knowledge of external payment penalties and performance priorities associated with specific health programs. Establish an evaluation plan to monitor the adoption rates by health care team members. Prepare results reports, with targets, for immediate feedback to the patient care team. Coordinate, develop, and implement orientation, clinical education, and in-service programs related to the care and management of patients in conjunction with the Continuing Education Department. Participate in mandatory educational activities relating to care. Assist the medical directors and hospital administration in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a quality management plan, for specified clinical outcomes programs, which is multi-disciplinary and patient outcome focused. Facilitate the implementation of the structured program guidelines targeting improvement in clinical outcomes through collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. Assess the needs for policies, procedures, and protocols relating to the care of patients in coordination with the medical directors, hospital administration, and clinicians. Develop policies and procedures based on input from clinicians and other resources such as data from patient care evaluations. May participate in research selection, analysis, and distribution of findings and facilitate protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis. Coordinate the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up of incidents and quality issues throughout the program while maintaining confidentiality. Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff to evaluate and address specific patient care issues. Participate in case reviews. Provide and document nursing care related to specific patient conditions to include all components of the nursing process in accordance with written clinical and administrative procedures. Coordinate the development and implementation of clinical pathways for specified patient populations incorporating members from the multi-disciplinary team. Continue improvement to the specified clinical pathways to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality. Represent quality programs on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal care management. Serve as a resource for staff in all departments to network in order to provide high-quality patient care and act as a liaison for Emergency Medical Services agencies and the community. Participate in the development of care systems at the community, state, and national levels. Shift
Shift Type: Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm Minimum Qualifications
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. Three (3) years of RN experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or similar, relevant bachelors degree is required. Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master of Science in Nursing degree. Two (2) years of emergency or critical care nursing experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Anticipated Hiring Range
