Purpose:

The Senior Turnaround Buyer manages on site demands to ensure supply security by negotiating demands (which are not handled by Global or Regional Category Buyers) and by negotiating, bidding, issuing, and managing contracts, outline agreements, and purchase orders. The Senior Turnaround Buyer demonstrates creativity and initiative and is able to weigh risks and opportunities associated with objectives of this role. The Senior Turnaround Buyer works in a straightforward manner and performs tasks required in the job to generate required results. This role assures that the procurement process on site are aligned with Americas Procurement policies and guidelines, driving negotiations with suppliers to deliver greatest total value.

This is an onsite role based in Pasadena, TX for an anticipated 1 year assignment with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:



  • Identify bid requirements for the site based on Delegation of Authority, Spend, and Regional Procurement Strategies, and developing documentation for approaching market players for specific products and services as appropriate to bring best value options to cross-functional team members for selection of best overall value for the client team.
  • Manage turnaround spend to total project spend levels to ensure projects completed under budget and on time.
  • Track and report savings and avoidances based on negotiations.
  • Implement work processes, procedures, and guidelines as appropriate when passed down through the organization.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:



  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in chemical/petrochemical.
  • Minimum of 10 years related in negotiation, development, and contract management including management of conflicts.
  • Basic know how in Procurement techniques, methods, processes and strategies.
  • Planning and Resources Management.
  • Basic skills in using tools like SAP, excel and other databases.
  • Continued Professional Development
  • Strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills to understand supply market dynamics, generate purchasing strategies, effectively negotiate agreements, and implement solutions to complex problems.
  • Good communication skills necessary, especially for interaction with external suppliers, procurement leaders, and other leaders in the organization.
  • Interacts openly and honestly with others across the organization and externally.
  • Knows and complies with laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, creative, innovative, results-oriented.
  • Good organization skills, ability to prioritize and handle competing demands on a daily basis.
  • Customer focus - ability to provide high level of customer service internally and to external customers and suppliers.
  • Sphere of influence - ability to influence, mediate, and persuade.
  • Change Management - effective change management and conflict management experience.
  • Strong emphasis on Ethics.


Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Preferred:



  • University Graduate Preferred
  • Purchasing Accreditation would be an asset


Additional information:



  • Work schedule will be initially 5-8s for the first two weeks, then 5-10s, with possibility of 5-12s starting January
