The Lead-Packaging position assists the department manager and supervisors to enhance the technical and financial performance of the packaging department. Leads their team to meet the required efficiencies in terms of quantity, cost, deadlines and quality / food safety.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Lead a team: organize and delegate, instill a sense of responsibility, set targets, communicate instructions, control, and listen
  • Gauge training needs and participate in proposing training timelines and validations
  • Keep line management informed
  • Flex to line operator as needed
  • Record packaging data
  • Assist in evaluating packaging efficiency data and determine the negative or positive net effect
  • Implement corrective action plans
  • Lead and control various packaging parameters and implement corrective actions
  • Propose improvement plans
  • Propose technical and organizational improvements to management
  • Be involved in trials (machines, products, processes etc.)
  • Work with Packaging Manager and Assistant Manager in scheduling personnel and packaging schedule in a manner which maximizes the department's packaging capability while meeting needs forecasted by sales
  • Organize technical means: plan action for preventative maintenance, cleaning, breakdown, etc.
  • Monitor yields and product specification
  • Apply the safety rules and ensure they are implemented and followed
  • Apply and enforce all quality programs
  • Verify the packaging lines quality criteria (such as code dates, weights, labels conformity)
  • Verify the packaging lines food safety criteria

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Education:

  • Highschool /GED completion; Bachelors Degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry or science related field preferred

Experience:

  • 2 years experience in dairy production and/or food industry preferred
  • Entry into management/supervisory role
  • Process management, collective line management, non-line management, environmental safety management, computer/office systems

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of: Packaging equipment and processes, quality, food safety, and health and safety

Skills/Abilities:

The ideal candidate will be proactive and dynamic, flexible and receptive to new ideas, down to earth and pragmatic, analytical and attentive to detail. He or she will also be capable of working independently in adherence to regulations, of managing stress and remaining calm under pressure, and be able to demonstrate an inquiring mind and well-developed observational skills. Will demonstrate a sense of responsibility and high professional standards, honesty and integrity, and objectivity. Possess values of ambition and engagement, with simplicity.

Sign On Bonus & Pay

We are offering a $2,000* Hiring Bonus to new hires for hourly positions. *Bonus amount is a gross amount. $1,000 will be paid out in the paycheck following 90 days of active employment; an additional $1,000 will be paid out in the paycheck following 180 days of active employment. Temporary, part-time and certain rehired employees are not eligible. *Attendance and performance rules apply.

Pay: $22.70/hr to $30.80/hr + $2/hr shift differential (dependent upon skills and experience). Weekend premium 20% more. Lactalis offers very competitive pay, benefits and paid time off.

Hours: 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
