Fully Remote or Hybrid if Local - Buffalo, NY The Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager develops and manages the execution of strategic sourcing plans. This includes Supply Chain network design and the identification, selection and development of suppliers. It also includes the creation, negotiation and management of supplier Contracts/Long Term Agreements (LTA's) for the entire product life cycle. Specifically in support of the Commercial Aricraft Group (CAG), the role will develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with the CAG business units and CAG Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization strategic initiatives. These initiatives include negotiating LTAs to increase secured spend, regionalization of supply to align with Moog operations, reducing approved supplier count, and identifying and executing cost reduction initiatives. The ISC Sourcing team is responsible for ~$500M in spend annually, supporting all our operations and global supply chain (including Asia, Europe, and Americas). This role is specifically responsible for ~$150M in global spend from suppliers that provide production supplies of Raw Materials (Steel/Al/Ti/), Castings, Forgings, Fasteners, Seals/Orings, and other mechanical COTS components. This role is also responsible for leading a direct-reporting team of 2-4 Strategic Sourcing Managers supporting the same commodities. As a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will:
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute tactical and long term strategic sourcing plans for multiple parts and a variety of products within an assigned commodity grouping. This includes providing strategic input to the Make vs Buy business planning process, and leading Buy to Buy and Make to Buy supplier transitions.
  • Be Responsible for research and identification of suppliers to achieve an effective Supply Chain network design based on quality, lead time, vendor managed inventory and total landed cost to achieve the required business objectives. Provide proposal support to the Business Sectors for current programs and new business pursuits.
  • Complete supplier selection after considering inputs and consulting with a cross functional team through a Supplier Selection process. Determine when products should be sourced to a single vendor or multiple vendors to mitigate risk, and provide continuity of supply and long term competitiveness. Develop new supplier capabilities/competencies through strategic supplier partnerships to generate competitive advantage.
  • Establish and manage the required relationships, investment, training and resource requirements to successfully complete planned supplier development.
  • Collaborate across the global Supply Chain organization and with other function business partners to analyze demand and supply trends, including the evaluation of lead times and total landed cost to identify and drive Supply Chain improvements. Continuously assesses strategic sourcing requirements to define strategic sourcing policies, supplier contractual requirements, business objectives, initiatives, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts/Legal function to define, flow down and negotiate supplier contractual requirements. Act as senior escalation point for suppliers that are not performing in accordance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assess and collaborate with other business partners to determine and manage appropriate actions required to address contractual related supplier performance issues.
  • Manage Supplier New Product Introduction (NPI) in collaboration with Sector Program Manager.
  • Be responsible for relationship management for supplier partners to achieve effective global long term business partnerships. Includes support for the Regional and Site Supply Chain teams with supplier relationships and contract management.
  • Manage and mentor a global Strategic Sourcing team encouraging professional growth and development.
To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject. A relevant advanced (graduate level) degree and/or Supply Chain Professional Certification is desirable.
  • >5 years relevant global Supply Chain knowledge and leadership experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of compiling and negotiating contractual terms and conditions for long term supplier agreements.
  • Proven collaborative leadership capability within a multicultural geographically dispersed environment.
  • Strong communication skills are required in the form of written, verbal and formal presentation

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $130,000.00-$180,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
