Position description

Junior Specialist - Ma Lab

The Ma Lab in the Cardiovascular Research Institute is seeking a Junior Specialist. The candidate will contribute to research using C. elegans and mammalian stem cells to study neurovascular protection, stress resilience, and life dormancy. The candidate will perform molecular and biochemical biology experiments and computational analyses, including machine learning and protein structure modeling, assist with data analysis, documentation, and preparation of manuscripts and presentation, and support lab operations and, as needed, help train undergraduate researchers.

Required Qualification:



  • B.A./B.S. degree (or equivalent degree) in biology, bioengineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Prior laboratory experience in molecular biology and/or computational analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Research experience with C. elegans or mammalian stem cell models.
  • Familiarity with machine learning tools or protein structural modeling.
  • Proficiency in coding (e.g., Python, R, or MATLAB) for data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to scientific manuscripts or presentations.
  • Strong interest in neurobiology, stress physiology, or regenerative medicine.
