JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern's William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital is ranked #1 in Texas and Top 20 in the United States. UT Southwestern is experiencing unparalleled clinical and reputational growth, and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) seeks to add a new senior leader and experienced fundraiser to lead its Clinical Philanthropy program.
The Senior Director of Clinical Philanthropy (Senior Director), serving on the DAR Executive Team and Gift Officer leadership team, and reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Development, is a newly established role focused on growing the number of six- and seven-figure gifts received from individual donors, including grateful patients and their families.
The Senior Director, working collaboratively within DAR and with faculty leaders across the institution, will ensure UT Southwestern front line fundraisers are maximally deployed to take advantage of the exciting clinical and demographic growth occurring in North Texas. Managing a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, the Senior Director will also enjoy leading and growing a team of dedicated fundraisers staffing UT Southwestern's clinical departments, divisions, institutes, and centers.
The successful candidate will have significant experience raising funds in an academic medical or higher education setting, including six- and seven-figure gifts. The candidate should also have experience managing fundraisers and the ability to bring creative approaches to the expansion of UT Southwestern's grateful patient program and physician engagement efforts. Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, this individual should embrace collaboration, thrive in a team-first environment, and possess a deep passion for advancing the work and mission of UT Southwestern.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience

  • 10 years of fundraising and/or related professional experience, with proven track record of securing $1M(+) gifts from individuals and families

    3 years of experience managing frontline fundraisers, sales teams, and/or related revenue generating teams

JOB DUTIES
  • Leads and inspires growing team of frontline fundraisers working with faculty leaders, physicians, grateful patients, and their families to secure gifts of $100,000(+).
  • In collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Development, Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, and other DAR colleagues, refines, implements and monitors DAR's long-term strategic plan.
  • Utilizes industry data and findings (e.g., from consultant engagements), with a keen focus on pipeline growth, to develop strategies to ensure clinical fundraising team is deployed for maximum ROI across the UT Southwestern clinical enterprise.
  • Designs physician and care team engagement and training strategies.
  • Establishes vision and metrics for clinical fundraising team with focus on achieving target and stretch fundraising goals.
  • Within three years, secures minimum of $5M(+) in annual philanthropic revenue from self- managed portfolio.
  • Assists in facilitating regular prospect strategy meetings with clinical team.
  • Represents DAR in inter-institutional fundraising collaborations, as assigned.
  • Participates in university-wide projects (i.e., campaigns) for major gift fundraising purposes, as assigned.
  • Strengthens and enhances management processes, electronic tools, reporting, and systems required for a growing and large development program.
  • Performs related duties as required and other duties as assigned.
