JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Extension, Westmoreland County, is seeking applicants for a part-time Equine 4-H Program Assistant.

Job duties to include:

  • Prepare and communicate necessary horse information to volunteers and members.
  • Prepare the agenda and attend monthly Adult Horse Leader Meetings.
  • Attend Junior Horse Show Committee meetings.
  • Prepare Westmoreland Fairgrounds for Horse events, including county shows, clinics, District Show, and other events.
  • Coordinate and communicate with members, as well as Cloverbud evaluation and testing, Measuring Clinic, and Horsemanship Testing Schedules.
  • Assist with the Indiana County Round-Up to be held at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds.
  • Complete paperwork for shows, including entry forms, show bills, pattern booklets, fairground rental, and other items as needed.

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to plan activities and educational programs.
  • Able to carry equipment, educational materials, and supplies, with or without accommodation.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $18.00.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
