CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS This position supports the strategic sourcing and management process of engineering projects related to equipment, materials, engineering services, and construction services. Responsibilities may include gathering and documenting vendor information for commodity team, identifying potential vendor options, assisting Project Teams with RFQ document development, assisting with developing vendor management strategies, category and supplier based strategies, monitoring market movements, working with a broad base of engineering groups, and resolving issues with suppliers. Position may also work closely with Engineering Project Teams, Sourcing Leaders or other Sourcing Specialists supporting more strategic, complex, or specialized categories. Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments. Essential Functions
- With direction from the Sourcing Leader, Project Team or Engineering, identify and develop supplier-level sourcing strategies and plans for assigned engineering categories consistent with global commodity team strategies and all applicable Business Unit business operating plans and objectives.
- Assist in technical qualification of potential suppliers.
- Gather and/or develop and issue RFQ documents for assigned engineering projects or those areas directed by the Sourcing Leader, Project Team or Engineering. RFQ documents can include Statements of Work, Bid Analysis worksheets, and/or Vendor Selection worksheets.
- Monitor fulfillment of project level deliverables.
- Communicate to both Division and Field Engineering sourcing strategies, pricing, and market conditions impacting supply of project deliverables, and assets.
- Support Engineering's strategy and requirements.
- Identify, develop, and manage new suppliers.
- Communicate cost estimates for project related purchases.
- Work with the Sourcing Leader, Project Team or Engineering to identify strategic suppliers in need of formal program development and/or agreements/contracts which help to increase supply assurance and improve Sherwin-Williams' competitive position in the market
- Monitor established contract status to ensure continuity of supplier relationship and/or facilitate strategic sourcing changes.
- With assistance from the Sourcing Leader, Project Team or Engineering:
- Assist in resolution of any claims or disputes concerning a supplier's performance on categories managed.
- Develop and implement supplier performance metrics for assigned categories.
- Ensure supplier documentation is valid/current/safely stored and is received in accordance with purchase orders and/or department policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Develop written category strategies for assigned categories.
- Identify cost savings projects and initiatives for assigned asset and service categories. Work with Engineering team to communicate and sustain.
- Work closely with technical/engineering to ensure strategy alignment with total cost and assured supply objectives; work closely with suppliers to ensure that appropriate resources, data and specification information is made available to enable timely product qualifications
- Ensure compliance with department policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations
POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Required:
- Bachelor's degree with Engineering (or similar) focus, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree with Engineering (of similar) focus
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required:
- 2+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the engineering or construction sectors
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Preferred:
- 3+ years of successful Field Engineering, Project Management or related experience is desirable.
- Must be a self-starter with an ability to work with minimal direction/supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of increasing responsibility with strong performance and focus on cost savings and security of supply.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills.
