Job Purpose

In the International Supply Chain Production Control Vanning role, the associate is responsible for designing vanning layouts for outbound mass production shipments. Tasks include creating sales orders and simulating vannings. Daily communication required among internal groups as well as applying problem solving skills to prevent impact to operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Simulate orders in the Advanced Logistics System (ALS).
  • Analyze ALS results and make adjustments considering weight distribution, container efficiency, and stacking capabilities.
  • Strategically pull ahead lots to fill container footprints and reduce cost for future shipments, while having awareness of storage capabilities within warehouses.
  • Collaborate with internal members and customers to identify areas of improvement. Propose solutions to reduce cost.
  • Create sales orders for Set Lot/ PXP orders.
  • Use appropriate Shoring methods in the vanning layouts for safety and quality assurance.
  • Support team activity to help achieve all specified Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and escalate critical issues to management to ensure appropriate allocation of resources in a timely manner.
  • Develop capability of self and others through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise to improve skills.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or 4yr equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing flow.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently with limited direction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems in a team-based work environment.
  • Consistently identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Decisions Expected

  • Review order volume and determine the best way to van an ocean container.
  • Use past problem history to effectively van containers.
  • Create loads that maintain sequence of pack, van, ship to keep warehouse floor clear of prepared freight.
  • Maximize available footprint for each container to reduce cost and overall weekly/ monthly container count.
  • Identify, evaluate, and escalate critical supply chain issues to key stakeholders.
  • Review/evaluate proposed countermeasures and their effectiveness once implemented.
  • Make sound financial decisions to support Honda profitability.

Working Conditions

  • OT as needed.
  • Hybrid work environment, 80% in office, 20% remote.
  • Little travel required.
