SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation:

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $68,739.84 and is commensurate with experience.

Position Description: The Program Manager oversees program operations and implements a strength-based, client-centered approach to service. Manages staff and develops approaches to meet program mission and goals.

This position is located at Reverend G. Smith House, which provides housing for adults and is located on Altamont Place in SE Washington, DC.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's Degree; 5 years' experience in social services; 2 years supervisory experience. Prefer experience working with mental health and substance abuse disorders.

Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid; Certification eligible employees must be compliant with DCMR for applicable fields of study

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm with at least one late shift per week (i.e. 10:00 am - 6:30pm) - 40 hours per week

Expected Contributions/Program Management:



  • Oversee all support and case management services
  • Interview and assess residents for support services
  • Provide interventions, as needed
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a resource and referral database
  • Educate and train program staff on support service issues
  • Ensure Wellness plans are completed for all residents and review on a monthly basis
  • Maintain program logs and statistics


Expected Contributions/Supervisory:



  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, evaluate, hire and train new employees.
  • Contribute to budget development and ensure budget complies with SOME's financial reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve departments performance and functions; assist in the development of standards and goals as appropriate.
  • Schedule staff work hours as needed and monitor for time and attendance; approve timecards and requests for leave.
  • Provide coaching and training for all staff, assist staff with work processes, and policies and encourage opportunities for professional development.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Knowledge of principles and processes and providing customer service and individualized services. This includes understanding resident's needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating satisfaction
  • Knowledge of creative and effective problem-solving skills with the ability to draw conclusions, evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, trauma substance abuse disorders, program population homelessness
  • Ability to set clear, measurable performance goals and find solutions to problems that may impact performance
  • Ability to manage and oversee operational budgets
  • Ability to multi-task despite competing priorities and manage one's time efficiently as well as be flexible when needed
  • Supervisory and leadership skills


Reports to: Vice President, Single Adult Housing

Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. Must be able to travel to events and meetings off-site
